Special Agricultural Loan Programs
The programs listed below are just a sample of the programs available through Houghton State Bank. New programs are introduced regularly and old ones are discontinued. Please contact one of our Ag loan specialists to inquire about additional programs.
- Farm Service Agency (FSA) Guaranteed Loans
FSA Guaranteed loans provide a loan guarantee, usually up to 90% of the loan balance to the lender. This reduces the amount of risk to the bank and may provide a producer the ability to obtain financing through their local bank when they may be unable to receive it otherwise.
- Beginning Farmer Down Payment Loans
This program is sponsored by the FSA (Farm Service Agency) and is designed to assist beginning farmers with the purchasing of farm real estate.
- Iowa Agricultural Development Authority Loans (IADA)
The IADA is a division of the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship and was formed to help farmers obtain adequate capital to pursue a career in production agriculture.
- Linked Investments for Tomorrow's Loan Programs (LIFT)
LIFT programs are sponsored by the Treasurer of State whereby they purchase a certificate of deposit below the current market rate from Houghton State Bank. The money is then loaned to an eligilble borrower at a low interest rate. Availablity is subject to state funding.
- Local Water Protection Program
A source of low-cost financing available to landowners to assist and encourage addressing non-point source pollution of Iowa streams and lakes.
